Than you Al Geist, for reminding us about the envelope story
from Harvey Mackay, CEO of the Mackay envelope corp.
He also produced two very stylish and helpful books
  about networking:
_Dig Your Well Before You're Thirsty_
  and
_Swim with the Sharks without Being Eaten Alive_
  (Both NY Times bestsellers)

Anyhoo, end of ad from a big fan of Harvey Mackay.
He even offers effective tips for nrgotiating bigger salaries.
Wups, the secret is out :-)

I also read in a business magazine several years ago about a person who
bought an envelope company that was on its last legs. He realized that all
his employees (from the janitor on up) in one way or another supported
sales. The technical writing staff and their output is as important to a
sale as the receptionist, design engineer, or sales representative. So, Gene
is correct in stating that everything a company does supports sales in some
way or another.
