"Appears" vs. "will appear"

I dunno if there ever will be a really good solution for this question, but
here are some options:

Click ABC. The XYZ dialog box opens. 

Click ABC to open (or display) the XYZ dialog box. 

Click ABC. 
Use the XYZ dialog box to to whatever. 

(MS Help style)
Click ABC. 
Do whatever....
