"Appears" vs. "will appear"

I vote for Geoff Hart's second suggestion as the best solution in
practically all contexts:

> In some contexts, "1. Click ABC. 2. In the XYZ 
> dialog box [do something]." Shorter, focuses on the task, and 
> doesn't make any predictions about the future.

But I vote for Laura Lemay's as the best "Is it Friday yet?" post in a
long time:
 
> Every six months, on techwrl, as if by magic, the appears 
> discussion appears.
> 
> Laura
> disappears

I will write in the future tense for food. But I won't display.
