Is FrameMaker dead?

That's true, but they have fundamentally different purposes. FrameMaker
is really an abstract content management engine, so someday they will
like build in SVN-style revisioning and change tracking, as well as
more features for single-sourcing (the changes made to allow flexible
condition overlap are part of this). InDesign will continue to be the
Quark-PageMaker hybrid it is, and capture more of the page layout
market.
