New Hire Orientation

The best orientations I've been involved with broke up coverage between multiple members of the team. For example, various people would be responsible for covering email, source control, intranet, error tracking, etc. It gave the new employee an opportunity to spend time with different members, understand what work they did, and didn't overwhelm any one person.

Currently, our orientation plan consists of my first in command covering
ever topic and detail. I'm sure that this leads to burnout (on both the
parts). This is why I'm scheduling brief meetings with everyone in the
department so that person can explain his or her part of the project(s).
