Software engineer tech. writers? Do they exist?

I started out as a mechanical engineer, and just about every
prospective employer or client who looks at my resume
seems to find it worth remarking about the fact that my tech
writing experience is preceded by engineering experience.
As far as not finding editing/writing to be "anything
especially difficult," that's usually true of anything you're
good at. It's only when you notice other people being
impressed by it that you realize how difficult it is for
them.
