Technical author leading resistance to background checks at NASA

NASA may have also expanded the background checks in part due to the flack they probably got over the Lisa Nowak affair.  Don't know, myself.  I'm also not sure that conducting the kind of background checks being discussed would provide any true early predictors that would help prevent that kind of thing.  Folks who flip out to the extent that damage is caused don't necessarily always have a history of insanity, infidelity, or whatever.
