Flatly refusing to carry out the instruction of a supervisor is one of
the fourteen infractions for which an employee here can be immediately
discharged.  I'm in the process right now of writing up that "tacit
knowledge" (somebody knows it so it's assumed that everybody knows it)
into "explicit knowledge" (it's in writing and available to anybody who
wants to see it).  Hey, it's progress!
