Well said, Dana. As a long-time contractor (now a captive), I can say
that even if you're not a captive there's almost always someone signing
the checks and calling the shots. 



If I disagree with my manager (or client), I will give her my informed
opinion, but to outright refuse to do it when asked is just defiant.
Often they have reasons for something that you may not be aware of.
Even if that's not the case, you agreed to do X work for X pay.
Anything less is unprofessional behavior.
