Distributing master documents

Dear Writers,

I am using a master document. What I need to do is distribute a version
of this whilst continuing to develop it to the new version. I want to
distribute one file and not a collection. (the master document method is
not used because of size but rather because the elements are used in
several places and I only want one source.

So my instinctive reaction is that I should "remove" all the
sub-documents, by which I mean use the toolbar button I never usually
touch which integrate the sub-document content into the master. Sound a
little risky but I can't think of a better way... or is there?

Versioning is manually controlled at my current client, in other words I
do it myself. the master document is held in a folder which also
contains a folder with the sub documents.

Any advice would be great,

thank you

regards
