Including diagram pages in Master Documents

Dear writers,
Some of the documents that I must include as sub documents within the
master document have large diagrams which mean that the format of the
page needs to change hence I must include a section break. My
understanding is that where possible section breaks should be avoided.
Since I can't does anyone have any advice about how best to ensure least
possibility of corruption?
