Opening PageMaker files with Chinese text

Hi, Curtis,
That doesn't necessarily have to do with how your PageMaker is set up. Rather, it's most likely because your Windows system is not set up for Chinese and other Asian languages. The XP system (assuming that's what you're using) already has Chinese language built up in it. All you have to do is to enable the setup, which can be found in Control Panel-->Language and Regional Options.
You can google instructions for "setting up Chinese language input in Windows XP." It's fairly painless.
Hope that helps.

We are having troubles opening up PageMaker 6.5 files that have both
Chinese and English text because apparently, the version of PageMaker
installed on my machine does not recognize Chinese fonts or Chinese
text. Has anybody worked with these kinds of files in PageMaker--are
there any downloads or patches that could be installed to allow my
version of PageMaker to recognize Chinese text? One of our company's
affiliates was sent an English version of the file, which was sent to
me, but when I opened it up, the English text looked fine, but the
Chinese text came out like garbage. I need to make some changes in the
English text in the files, and then send the files to a Chinese
translator who will make the corresponding changes in the Chinese text.
The problem is that if we saved them to the English version, it would
take up time that we don't have. Does anybody have any solutions?
