FrameMaker 8 Graphics

I am trying to place a graphic in a FrameMaker 8 document such that the
graphic has a transparent background. I have created the .jpg with a
transparent background in PhotoShop, but it imports with a white
background. I've also used a .psd with the same result. I can't seem to
find info on this anywhere; can someone please tell me if it's even
