Testing an index

Perhaps I'm flogging a dead horse here, but I think that "See" and "See
also" references are amont the things that help differentiate a real
index from a full-text search.
In general, I use "See" references to establish a link between synonyms,
especially where the entries (almost?) all appear under one entry, but
users might use a different term to refer to the same thing. The lack of
synonyms in a lot of Microsoft's documentation has caused me to use a
lot of immoderate language!
I use "See also" references to point to related, but not synonymous
topics; for example, "Conference call, see also collaboration, online."
