Color Schemes for Tables in Documentation

I agree with the idea of choosing from the company logo color scheme.
I like the look of reversed heading rows (dark block with white text),
but I feel guilty when I end up printing out such blocks of solid
color--I fear I'm burning up toner. There's no reason for a table to
leap off the page (or the screen) at the reader. Keep them subtle.
Apply Tufte's principles.

I also like alternating white and light-gray table rows, believing
that accountants got things right years ago, though Sue Gallagher is
wise to warn not to make the gray too light (so that it washes out,
especially in photocopies) or too dark (so that it overpowers the
text). I have also used light gray for subheadings in a table (to
organize a block of rows), in which case I've made the text boldface.
