Flare does not import PDFs -- any workarounds?

A little while ago I asked which application you would recommend for
help authoring, RoboHelp or Flare. Most everyone said Flare. Okay, I
downloaded and have been testing Flare. Everything is working out well
enough. I'm adjusting to the learning curve. However, I remembered most
of our legacy material resides in Word docs and PDF files.

 

I couldn't figure out how to import PDFs into Flare, so I had to email
and ask. The answer was surprising: Flare does not import PDF fies. 

 

Flare imports Word docs and entire RoboHelp projects, but not PDF files.
Ouch.

 

If anyone has run into this and solved it, please let me know.
