Storing a Word Macro

I am deep in the weeds on various MS Word sites and am diligently following directions, but I need one bit of help. So, if you know how to make a hyperlink work on a form with protected fields, read on. If you'd prefer not to wander in this wilderness, click Next!
I'm creating a form. When you protect the form fields, the hyperlinks on the form go dead.
I've found several articles that explain how to solve this problem. The procedures are cut-and-dried and I don't anticipate any trouble following them -- EXCEPT for the piece no one explains because they think everyone already knows it: Once I create the brief macro, what do I do with it? It's three short lines. Do I save it in a file called "macro"? If so, if it gets separated from the form, will the links on the form still work?
This form will be emailed to people all over a large corporation (not very efficient, I know, but it's definitely not my call). They will fill out the form and email it back. So, any macro that makes the links work will have to travel with the form.
If you're still reading and would like to see the exact article I'm puzzling over, here it is: http://kbalertz.com/913761/hyperlink-document-protected-forms.aspx
Thanks for any and all help.
