Bit of a stretch, I'd say. What can a tech writer contribute outside the 
visible sphere? I used to explain my role by means of a Venn diagram 
showing that where the user's job and the software overlapped was my 
sphere of influence. It would never have been my intention to tell the 
architects and engineers how to write code. Nor would I recommend doing so 
without flame-retardant clothing.
