That's illegal under California's labor laws, and the federal IRS takes
a dim
view of "comp time" as compensation for overtime work. It isn't because
they're
such friends of the worker; they want the additional tax revenue.
Next time you take a vacation, use your benefits, sit in your well-lit
and well-ventilated
office, you might want to thank some greedy lawyers and bellyaching
workers who stood up for a
40-hour week, paid vacations, health insurance and the like. They didn't
come about through the
goodness and desire for fair play by most employers.
