Tech Writer Lawsuit; STC position?

The Periodical Writers Association of Canada, a considerably smaller
organization than the STC, never hesitated to take a position on the
rights of freelance writers who were being exploited, left unpaid, or
treated unfairly. In particular, they commented on various libel
lawsuits involving writers, and brought the notion of "libel chill" into
public awareness. As a member of PWAC I always felt that my professional
organization was doing its job.

It's fine to tell Society officers not to give an opinion or speak to
the media, but there most certainly should be some official
communication on the subject from Head Office.
I have just written them saying so. Their e-mail addresses are on the
STC site.
