I suggest that you base your requirement on where YOU live.
That said, the Springfield area does cost less to live in than Boston.
(I grew up 30 minutes from Springfield and my family still lives there.)
You could charge Boston rates and see if they bite, or try
a quick and dirty comparison of some listings for similar
homes, apartment rentals and professional jobs between
the two areas.
