You have two choices. You can either ignore the dot and file the
extension under 'c', or you can put a separate section in front of
the 'a's to hold all the dots (and any other special character
entries, listed in ASCII sort order).
Which ever method you choose, it would be a right-friendly gesture
to cross-reference so that any user who guessed that you'd listed
the extension under 'dot' would be instructed to turn to the 'c's,
or vice versa.
