Do you put quotation marks around a reference to a system-generated message?
If not, how do you set it apart from other text?
Our results statements, where we normally reference these messages, use
bold-italic formatting that we don't like to interrupt with other
formatting. For example, we don't like to spot the bold italic with roman
font. However, we want to follow the conventions for documenting
system-generated messages.
In body text, we don't use quotation marks, except for around definitions or
to emphasize unusual word meaning. We use italics to emphasize book and
section references, and so forth.
