I don't think hierarchy and granularity are the same.
As far as I am aware, the hierarchy is, for example,
the placing of elements in a DTD, what follows what etc.
The granularity is the level of complexity of that DTD,
how many elements have been specified and to what
level of detail. The more detail, the higher, or finer, the granularity.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm trying to explain DTD-granularity at this very moment.
