I convert large documents (75-125 pages) from Word 97 to PDF on a regular
basis using the PDF Writer plug-in with no trouble at all.
You may want to review your system resources - it's possible that the memory
may be the actual issue, although different releases of Word 97 have some
unusual quirks.
