years ago than it is now. The basic idea was that you were entitled to
two 15-minute breaks (paid) and a half-hour lunch (unpaid) in an
8-hour day
Here in the land of the unskilled worker, there are still union
contracts in existence that allow for an 8-hour day, for example 7-3,
with a 20-minute paid lunch. The employee gets paid for 40 hours,
thus accounting for the 40-hour week.
