Perhaps I should have added, this is IMHO. which, after all it is, I like
using the descriptive OF "the button to the right of the" or the ellipsis
button.

Just because lots of programs have it, doesn't mean typical end users
understand it or are comfortable with it. Why NOT call it what it is
instead of putting some mystical punctuation symbol? Ellipses buttons do
not rate high on usability scales.

um, actually lots of programs have this "ellipsis" button, not to mention
Word and Outlook as well. I think it's a pretty common button actually.

Tell the idiot programmers to rename the button List ... It's about 10
seconds of their time.

Nobody other than programmers EVER knows what the ellipsis by itself means.
Programs that have it usually have high annoyance factors from typical end
users.
