Subject:What's the good word? From:KMcLauchlan -at- chrysalis-its -dot- com To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Thu, 9 Nov 2000 17:13:18 -0500
G'day again.
Hypothetical question :-)
Suppose you had some products that addressed medium-high
security client/user and low-volume server applications
and you had some products that addressed enterprise,
extreme-security high-performance applications... but
much of the terminology was common across the product lines.
What would be some words you might use to differentiate
between them. Client/Server... but don't use "client",
cuz that's too limiting. Nouns? Adjectives in front of the
ubiquitous "system"? Also don't use "infrastructure" to
describe the "server" side.
My thesaurus is spectacularly unhelpful in this case.
Yeah, I know I'm being vague. Sorry. But any suggestions
will be appreciated.
One line is for stuff done on desktops/workstations, mostly,
by individual persons. The other line lives on big nasty
servers in locked rooms, with guards and alarms.
hmmmmm
