The usual rule of thumb is to replace "APerhaps we should all begin writing boolean equations to deal with these
and/or B" with "A, B, or both". However, that gets cumbersome sometimes, as
Microsoft notes. (Give them credit: they're not always wrong with their
style advice. <G>)
situations.
I think and/or is a preferred fudging phrase in legal documents.
It allows the sentence to be interpreted as:
A and B
or
A or B
or
not A and B
or
A and not B
