OK,

Now that most of us have deleted the vast majority of posts on this thread,
it may be worth summarizing the results:

1) Read Eric's Admin Rules and use common sense in following.

2) Post (and flame) unto others as you would have them post/flame unto you.

3) Do your homework first-check the archives, check Eric's and Deb's
extensive site of resources.

4) Try not to get too rude with the newbies, remember we were all newbies
once.

5) Vent at your own risk.

6) Take the critiques off-line, the rest of the list has no interest in
name-calling.

7) If your easily bored, make friends with your delete key.

8) If you're easily offended, make friends with your delete key.

9) Check out other lists (Copy Editing, HATT, Framers come to mind)  for
answers when Whirlers seem singularly uninterested in your question.

10) Remember we all have bad days, brain freezes, and idiosyncrasies.  It
makes the list interesting.

11) Be nice to Eric-he really is doing this out of the goodness of his
heart.

12)  Never let the list know you actually watch Survivor, Big Brother or Who
Wants to be a Millionaire!

Anybody who watched Survivor knows that, while the ability to "make nice" is
not the *most* important thing one needs to function in a team (and don't
most of us work with others rather than in complete solitude?), it certainly
ranks highly. If you can weed out the rude* people and still have a
satisfactory pool of candidates, no one is hurt (except the rude people).
It's a little naive, IMHO, to think it would *never* be an issue.

*Rude people, IMHO, are not the ones who get frustrated at the occasional
inappropriate or poorly-thought out post. Rude people are the ones who are
*consistently* nasty when there is no other reason beyond their own
entertainment and ego stroking.
