A Mac will recognize PC formatted Zip disks no problem ... If your printer
is giving you a hard time about this ... Get him/her straight or find a new
printer. IIRC there is also an app that will mount Mac based removable
drives on your PC.
As for compression, the most common app on the Mac is Stuffit. Stuffit
decompresses ZIP files with no problem. Sending your printer zipped files
should not be an issue. If you need to receive stuffed files from your Mac
based printer, Stuffit has a PC version of their software that can handle
this and ZIP files.
As for the fonts ... that is an issue that you can't get around unless you
have both platform versions of the font ... Make PDFs and never have the
problem again.
