Oh, I disagree. Anyone who's tired of it can easily use the delete key (or take your advice and "get over it"), but I would love to see the results of this challenge. I think the factors you list (passion, willingness to learn, persistence) *should* show up in a quantifiable manner (though I'm not sure about honor). Everything that goes into making a good tech writer should show up in the result, right?

Not to mention that I think that

is a good pun (counts -> numbers, get it?), but that's all. As a human being
working as a technical writer, I strongly disagree that the only arena that
matters is one that is quantifiable. Quantify honour. Quantify passion.
Quantify willingness to learn. Quantify persistence. I think those
attributes are just as important to being a good technical writer as
anything that shows up on a usability study.
In homage to Andrew's acerbic wit, I offer the following:
It's only a job. Get over it.
