I'm seeing the same thing (see original message below).
What is working for me is to use the Active Window as Input.
Then, I use SnagIt's Crop tool to grab the button plus tool tip
in a rectangle.
If needed, I can then fire up SnagIt Studio to clean out the
unwanted bits.
Not as fast or elegant, but it works.

Geoff,

I am finding that this is not totally consistant. In one program, (MS Word)
it works as you say, yet on the program we have designed, the tool tip
disappears as soon as I hit the control or shift key. Any ideas on how to
get around this?
