I'm sure that there are senior developers who would object to the
test and some take the test, just like there Senior Writers, some
object to the test and some take the test.

If a Senior Developer comes to an interview with several applications
on CD and runs the applications, or if a Senior Writer comes to the
interview with an extensive portfolio, you either trust the developer
or writer that he did it and accept his qualifications without a test
or you don't trust him and make him do the test anyway. In this case,
starting from a point of mistrust, I'll find another interview.

It is your job, as the interviewer, to determine whether you trust
the interviewee or not, and this should be done without a test of a
basic skill that has been passed a long time ago, since trust is more
than if you have a skill...it is based on ethics and contentiousness.
If the person has those traits, you will get good work out of them
whether they know if a bullet list uses periods or not.
