I once came across a chip developer's manual chapter that began with "When
the programmer bursts across the partition..." What the SME really wanted to
say was "When programming memory bursts across register partitions..." My
editorial remark to the SME was "(sounds like a bloody mess...can you
reword?"). First, he didn't get the joke; second, he didn't have the first
clue on how to reword the passage.
