Anonymous asks for advice dealing with a situation where Anonymous seems
doing most of the productive work (completing manuals), but is concerned
about a bad rating from the (less apparently productive) boss or even a
layoff.

Anonymous is also confused about a request from the boss to work on getting
information from SMEs (who seem to be providing the information to
Anonymous).

1. If Anonymous has correctly evaluated the situation, I would advise:

a: start looking for a new job! with one year experience, it probably
won't take as long as landing that first job.

b: whenever you release manuals, send a message to Support and anyone
in your company who would be interested. This will let them know
what's now available (and hopefully where to find it) - but will also
let people besides your boss know how much work you are doing.

2. It is also possible that Anonymous has not correctly interpreted the
situation.
The boss and other writer may be working on difficult manuals covering much
complex information, while Anonymous, being new to tech. writing, was
assigned smaller, more manageable manuals. It is also possible that the boss
is asking Anonymous about getting information about SMEs, because Anonymous
is being such a speed demon, that critical information (that the SMEs can
convey) is being omitted.

Of course, the truth may lie somewhere between the two.
