A careful reading of my original post reveals that I was complaining about
*some* cookbooks. ;-)
I agree that there are examples with excellent indexes, and I enjoy browsing
them. It just seems to me that it's a category with more than its share of
inadequate indexes, and I've never been quite sure why that aspect of the book
was slighted. I do know that indexing is hard work, and always takes at least
twice as long as I think it should.
