See http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q261/1/62.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=web%20toolbar&rnk=5&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=WRD20 for why this happens (entries in a table of contents are hyperlinks, which brings up the Web toolbar). I was able to hide it by docking the web toolbar at the bottom of the screen, then turning it off. I was then able to switch from outline to normal to print layout views without it reappearing until I turned it back on.

I'm doing extensive work in an outline. Whenever I switch from
outline to regular view (or do just about anything else) the
pesky Web toolbar appears and crowds out the toolbars that I do
need. I go into View | Toolbars and turn it off, but it
reappears when I change my view.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the Web toolbar until such
time as I might need it?

thanks,

Becca
