Yech indeed. It *could* have been an artifact - removable by View > Normal
then View > PrintLayout - or by reloading the doc.

Maybe the problem was that I was using top and bottom
borders instead of a full box, Idunno. But it was so
insistently annoying, I ultimately changed my styles
to have separate first line, body, and last line.
