Bill brings up great points. There are too many lazy-*ssed people in the world who can't figure out for themselves how to look in their own reference books for the right answer to some banal grammatical "problem." We tell our clients and customers to RTFM; maybe it's time we start doing the same thing.

Instead of asking the very learned and gifted (and busy) members of this list such trite questions as "why is a carrot more orange than an orange?" FOR PETE'S SAKE, LOOK IT UP YOURSELF FIRST. You may have to stand up from your chair to reach for that FrameMaker User Manual, or <insert your favorite reference title here>, but it will be worth the warm fuzzy feeling you'll get from self-discovery (all "self" words are hyphenated, aren't they?)

And search engines...now THERE'S an idea that escapes many WEB users...
