How long are you talking about being in a job before leaving?

My shortest time at a job was from 2/11/98 to 9/30/98. I was hired to be a
technical writer, the company fell into some difficult times, and so, to
generate more revenue, I was shifted to doing data entry in July, (after
being spared in a round of layoffs and other cost cutting measures) which
our clients paid us to do. I left because it was obvious to me that the
company was going to get comfortable with me in that role and that technical
writing for that company was not likely to happen anytime soon. My wife and
I were also expecting our second child so I wanted to work for a company I
had faith would be there for the long haul.

After I left, the programmer in the office quit as did the woman that hired
me. Eventually the local office closed and consolidated their operations
from Iowa and North Carolina to only having an office in Colorado Springs.
It was great while it lasted, though. The company rented what could best be
described as an apartment. There were four 'bedrooms' and each of us got our
own office. I also had the newest and fastest PC in the company because I
had the CD burner. Ah, those were the days. Plus I was hourly so I could
rack up the OT and accrue vacation time and . . . <sigh>
