For those who were discussing the relative merits of the STC conferences, I
felt it would be worthwhile reporting back on my experience--having just
returned from the conference after surviving a full week on less than 5
hours sleep per night.

In short, I had a blast. Met far too many interesting people to detail,
talked to most of them for far too short a time (despite several very late
nights spent trying), learned a whole bunch of new stuff, and came back
completely turbocharged and full of new ideas. (Adrenaline is a wonderful
drug!) Also gave my first presentation--at the Information Design
progression--and a hearty thanks to the three tables full of folk who kindly
lent me their ears and their smiles. I feel inspired to go forth and
progress again! Plus, the techwr-l dinner looked fun, and I regret having
come to the table so late; made up for it only partially with yet another
late night.

If you're looking for detailed presentations on the innards of WinHelp, this
probably isn't the conference for you. If, on the other hand, you want to
meet a great bunch of fellow inmates in the techwhirler asylum, encounter
new ideas (and renew your acquaintances with old ones), and talk with some
of the best in the biz, this is the place to go. Just make sure to stock up
on your sleep the week before you leave. <yawn> Okay, coffee is also a
wunnerful drug. More, please!
