I have to agree with Andrew to a degree. At one of my former employers, the 
monthly "Employee of the Month" award (nicknamed "Engineer of the Month" 
because only engineers received it, it seemed) was typically given to the 
engineer who made the diving catch with no time left on the clock for some 
big important project...most of the time, it was because he was hoarding 
information--not to get the award--but because it was they way he typically 
worked.

Here they are rewarding the kind of behavior that should have been outlawed 
in the company. The persons who should win the award are those sitting in 
their cubes, reading Wired with their feet up on their desk because their 
processes are running efficiently and effectively.
