I don't work in the film industry, but I have done some volunteer work for
CRIFilms (Cedar Rapids Independent Films), who help amateur film makers
find their niche in the market.
In April, we held a film festival. I made posters and tear sheets for
advertising, programs for the event, and award certificates for the winners
and other participants. I also attended planning sessions, and they used
several of my ideas (including setting the CRIF logo as the wallpaper for
the computer they used to project one of the movies onto a screen... it was
a very nice effect!).
This is going to be at least an annual event, and I hope to become more
involved each time; they already told me I'm hired again for next time, at
double the pay *wink*.

I've worked on animation programs before, but for computer games, not
feature films (though, in principle, the software is pretty much the same).
Does anybody on the list work in the film industry or a related field?
I just thought I'd mention it. Being both a cinephile and a technical
writer, I don't find that these interests meet very often. Cheers. DB.
