Toni,
This how I would go to convert Excel files into FrameMaker documents:
1. Convert the files from Excel to Word
2. Reformat the obtained word document, by assigning styles to Headings, text, etc. Make sure that the style names are the same as the ones used in your Framemaker template.
3. Save the Word document to Word 97 or best Word 7, or to RTF.
4. Import the file by means of the "Import > File" command in an empty document of Framemaker.
5. Import the formats from your templates.
