No offense meant to you personally, Kristen, just playing the odds. I'm
sure there are lots of recruiters out there with integrity; just as I'm sure
there are thousands who would sell me to the devil for a pack of Marlboros
and an order of fries. I just don't have the time to figure out which is
which. If a relationship has been fostered with a recruiter and I
personally know them, that's a whole different story. But on the flipside,
while I was in the midsts of my last search, a recruiter told me after a
bizarre interview that if anyone called me to tell them that "I was
represented". After which, I never heard from her again.

If it's any comfort, I get the same sort of rap as a Technical Writer. I
and most of (well, some of) the Tech Writers I know personally are quite
professional and competent, but Engineers and other SME's have been burned
so many times, they instantly consider us to be glorified typists. We have
to prove ourselves. Not an ideal world, but that's just the way it is.

Again, nothing personal.

Cheers,

-- Martin
