I agree with you wholeheartedly on this point. By the time you're in grad
school, you're in a niche whether you like it or not. That's one reason why
I've given serious thought to a second master's to compliment the one I'm
nearly done with. It might provide a little opportunity to expand my pigeon
hole into at least a pigeon townhouse. ;)
