TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
This has been my personal experience at my last 2 jobs.
The lack of recognition for plain old hard work was
limited to neglible/no raises and lack of promotions.
You were also shunned from perks like paid overtime -
just expected to keep up on your own time; while
those with brown noses supplemented their income with ease.
The only thing that keeps me trying and not "kissing"
is the hope that this is not becoming the norm.
Personally I don't like knee pads.
