Miranda O'Connor asked about references to use when supervisors were
incompetent. The reference list I used in getting my current position had
one former "customer" (inside the company), one co-worker, and one former
employee--no bosses. As a hiring manager, I would have no problem with a
similar list. I expect my employees to satisfy their customers and
colleagues, so if a job candidate did that, I really wouldn't care if he or
she pleased the boss.
