If you see any risks associated with returning to that company, then ask for
a signing bonus sufficient to carry you through your next period of
unemployment. Don't take the money as severance, because they can file
bankruptcy overnight and you will never see the cash. And, once you get the
money, don't spend it, or invest it in any high risk venture. Put it aside
for the inevitable rainy day.
